Education

At Crossland and Dudson Training, we believe that everyone should have the right to learn and benefit from having skills to improve their chances of getting a better job and improving their life. This is why we offer training courses in IT, Maths, English, Business & Administration, IT and Employability. Whilst most of our courses are FREE there are occasions that we might need to charge, so please contact our office for more information.

A qualification is proof that you have knowledge or a skill in a certain area. Qualifications aren't the only way to show your skills: work experience, apprenticeships or volunteering are other ways of showing what you can do. But qualifications are a good way to let an employer see what skills and knowledge you have. Don’t worry if you haven’t studied for a while. Many people return to learning after a break, and really enjoy the experience.

English and maths qualifications:

These are sometimes called Functional Skills qualifications. They’re based on national standards recognised by employers and colleges. A range of qualifications are available.

You can take an English and maths qualification if you:

  • Are over 16 years old
  • Have left compulsory full-time education
  • Have English and maths skills below level 2 (GCSE) standard

We Offer Qualifications in:

  • English/literacy
  • Maths/numeracy
  • ICT
  • Employability

Qualification levels:

  • Entry level 3
  • Level 1
  • Level 2
  • Level 3 (Apprenticeships)

Which level is right for me?

Level 1
You are just starting out and want to learn how to carry out basic administrative tasks. You need everyday skills, including handling mail and working and communicating with others.

Level 2
You are in a junior role and want to develop your skills to become a future team leader or business manager. You need practical knowledge of more complex administrative support, perhaps supporting meetings and events or retrieving information

Level 3
You have some knowledge and experience of administration systems. You want to develop your skills to implement and monitor administrative procedures and systems, perhaps to move into a management role.

Level 4
You deliver administrative support services and contribute at a strategic level. You may lead or manage a team, or want to move into that role. You need a range of administrative and management skills such as budget management and promoting innovation.
